Page numbers, placed exactly where you want them
Open the Page numbers panel in the toolbar and switch it on: every page gets numbered the moment you download. Pick a corner or edge — top-left through bottom-right — a label format from "1 / 12" to "Page 1 of 12" to a bare "- 1 -", and a starting number for a document that continues an earlier volume or chapter. A text size setting keeps the numbers readable without crowding a small page, and you can zoom in on any thumbnail to check exactly how a number sits before you download.
Numbering never leaves your browser. Your PDF opens locally, and the numbers are written directly into the file — the same process the download step uses for every other edit here. Nothing is uploaded to add page numbers; pressing Download just saves the result to your device.
Choose the position and format
Page numbers can sit in any of six spots — top or bottom, left, center, or right — so they land wherever your layout has room, including a footer already used by a header or logo. The format dropdown covers the common styles: a running "1 / 12" count, a bare number, "Page 1", "Page 1 of 12", or a plain "- 1 -", so you are not stuck with one fixed look.
Start numbering from any number
The Start at field is for a document that is not starting from page one — a chapter that continues an earlier volume, or a report where the cover page should not count as "1". Set the starting number once and every page numbers forward from there.
Private by construction, not just by policy
There is no server step to add page numbers — your PDF opens and the numbers are written in, entirely on your device, so there is nothing to upload in the first place. That makes it safe to number a document you would rather not send anywhere, and it works the same on Windows, Mac, iPhone, and Android since the work all happens on your own device.
