This Privacy Policy explains how PDF to Word Free ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use our website and free document conversion tools (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described below.

Your files and documents

The files you upload are processed and returned to you immediately. Most tools — including Word to PDF, PowerPoint to PDF, Excel to PDF, Compress PDF, Compress Word, OCR PDF, Merge PDF, Split PDF, Delete PDF Pages, Reorder PDF Pages, Lock PDF, Unlock PDF, PDF Metadata, Image to PDF, PDF to Image, Image to Word, Word to Image, and Scan to PDF — run entirely on our own server, where files are handled in memory and are never written to disk or stored. Once your converted file has been delivered, the original and the result are discarded. We do not read, share, sell, or retain the contents of your documents.

A few tools — currently PDF to Word, PDF to Excel, PDF to PowerPoint, and Merge Word — may use a trusted third-party conversion engine to deliver the best-quality output (see “Third-party services” below). For those, your file is transmitted securely to the provider solely to perform the conversion and is not retained by us.

Scan to PDF has one optional exception to in-memory-only processing: if you choose to tap "Send to my computer" to move a finished scan from your phone to the computer that showed the QR code, the file is briefly relayed through temporary cloud storage on our own infrastructure (not a third party) so the other device can retrieve it, and is deleted immediately once retrieved, with a short automatic expiry regardless. This only happens if you explicitly choose to use that feature — the rest of Scan to PDF never leaves memory, the same as every other tool.

Information we collect

We do not require an account, email address, or any personal details to use the Service. Like most websites, our servers may automatically record standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, and timestamps for security and troubleshooting. This information is not used to identify you personally.

Cookies and analytics

We use a minimal amount of local browser storage to remember preferences such as your light or dark theme. We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand aggregate usage (for example, how many conversions are performed), but this does not identify individual users.

Third-party services

To perform certain conversions — currently PDF to Word, PDF to Excel, PDF to PowerPoint, and Merge Word — we may use a trusted third-party document processing engine, subject to a monthly usage allowance. When used, your file is transmitted securely to the provider only for the purpose of completing your conversion; it is subject to that provider's own security and privacy practices and is not retained by us. PDF to Word, PDF to PowerPoint, and Merge Word automatically fall back to processing on our own server if the third-party engine is unavailable or the monthly allowance is reached, so your file never has to leave our infrastructure to get a result. All other tools do not use any third-party service.

Data security

We use reasonable technical measures to protect the Service, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
